Not much to report on the Upgrade front today, but the site has changed quite a bit. I’ve transitioned it to a more modern content-managed solution. The roots of this site are pretty old (circa late 90’s) and it was beginning to get somewhat tiring to hand-craft HTML around every post or version update. Blog tech has changed quite a bit since the last redesign ~10 years ago. But thanks to WordPress, this site has several new features:
- You can now comment on news posts!
- You can now search for content in posts/pages.
- The site is responsive, so it should look good on mobile devices.
- And for me – It’s easier to make site updates as everything is now CMS-driven.
Everything looks good! I’m starting on Ultima III, so I’ll be testing out the 3.2 Upgrade patch. Sound effect timing sounds great so far though!
Also extra thanks for the Composite CGA driver. Not only do I like the authentic look to it, your implementation is very nice. I did get the Dosbox built-in composite CGA emulation working for Ultima II, but it’s very blurry and headache-inducing to use after awhile.
If you’re at all considering adding the CGA Composite driver to your Ultima II Upgrade, consider this an eager request for it!
Thanks for all your hard work on these upgrade patches!
Thank you! I am definitely interested in applying the video driver work into U2 as well. While I don’t have much of a timetable it’s definitely one of the next things on my list after wrapping up a few other things with U3.
