It had been 20 years since the fall of Minax and the world of Sosaria had thrived in peace since. The land had changed somewhat since the time of Mondain, when the Champion was last in Sosaria. Three of the four continents of greater Sosaria were presumed destroyed from the cataclysm that accompanied Mondain's end. Only the Lands of Lord British remained. But the people of the land felt confident that the worst was behind them, and went about rebuilding their war-torn kingdom. That was, until the omens began anew.
A document was uncovered, presumably authored by the vile Minax herself, indicating a union with her former master that had produced an offspring. As the scholars debated the authenticity of this manuscript, orc drums started to echo throughout the countryside and monsters began raiding the towns. The unrest from the tremors ended whatever peace there was left between the city-states. Sailors spread stories that an unholy isle of fire and molten rock was born in the midst of the Great Ocean, and that a giant serpent stood in wait over any who dare approach. It was not long after these extraordinary stories had begun pouring into Lord British's throne room that an empty merchant ship was towed into Britain's harbor. The crew and captain had vanished and there was no sign as to why they had left, save for the word "EXODUS" written in blood on the deck. And thus, Lord British sent out the call for a Champion to step forward and fight for Sosaria, and to find out just who or what is this "Exodus". |
